DEAF, Inc. Board Member Brian Switzer completes the Equinox Marathon in Fairbanks, Alaska
One of DEAF, Inc.'s newest board members, Brian Switzer, just completed the Equinox Marathon in Fairbanks, Alaska. This race is one of the toughest marathons in the nation due to elevation changes, unpredictable weather, and uneven terrain! His friend, Marco, flew from Europe to guide Brian! He guided Brian last time, although he got sick with altitude sickness. Brian ran the race in 2015. The Alaskan Dispatch newspaper wrote an article about him! (https://www.adn.com/health/article/running-blind-fairbanks-equinox-marathon-centerpiece-usher-syndrome-awareness/2015/09/18/)
This was his second time completing it. No other blind nor DeafBlind individual has completed the race. We are extremely proud and honored to have him on our board!
